Getting to UTSC
Here are some suggestions on getting to UTSC. Please contact David Bergman at david.bergman@business.uconn.edu if you would like to see if you can arrange to meet with other participants and share a taxi, or possibly get a ride with him.
Some terms that you will find:
* TTC: Stands for Toronto Transit Commission and it’s the company responsible for public buses and subway in the city of Toronto.
* GO: Another regional public tranport company, responsible for buses in the Great Toronto Area (Mississauga, where Pearson is located, belongs to the great toronto area).
Option A: TTC Bus + TTC Subway + TTC Bus
Total cost: $3
Duration 1h30min – 1h50mins
At the airport (regardless of the terminal), go to the bus stop by following the signs to “Public Transit” and take the bus 192 / Rockets towards Pearson Airport. Get off the bus at Kipling Station (the last stop) and take line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) to Kennedy Station. At Kennedy Station, take the bus 116C and get off at Ellesmere Rd. stop (stops are announced by the bus driver). From this stop UTSC is 2 mins away, up the hill.
Note that you need to pay the $3 fare only once (for the first bus, 192). You can only pay the exact fare, i.e. they do not have change.
Option B: GO Bus + TTC Bus
Total cost: $9
Duration 1h30min
At the airport, go to the bus stop by following the signs to “Public Transit” and take the GO bus 34 (York Mills Bus Terminal). Leave the bus at York Mills Station (the last stop) and at that station take the bus 95B (York Mills torwards University of Toronto Scarborough). Get off at Ellesmere Rd. with Morning side (stops are announced by the bus driver). From this stop UTSC is 4 mins away, up the hill.
The GO bus costs are $6 the last time I see, and you have to pay $3 at York Mills for the TTC Bus. (I’m not sure if you really need to pay the TTC when you reach the station, but just in case…)
Option C: Express Bus + TTC Subway + TTC Bus
Total cost: $28
Duration 1h20min – 1h40mins
At the airport, take the “UP Express Pearson Airport” torwards Union Station (just follow the signs at the airport). Get off at the “Bloor GO / UP” station, walk to the Dundas West subway station (right next the stop), and take line 2 towards Kennedy Station. Get off at Kennedy Station, take the bus 116C and leave at Ellesmere Rd. stop (stops are announced by the bus driver). From this stop UTSC is 2 mins away, up the hill.
Option D: Taxi
Total cost: CAD$70-CAD$85.
Duration: 20-30 mins.
Just make sure you take the official airport cabs, parked in front of the airport exit (many cab drivers will be offering their services as soon as you leave the arrival area, I suggest you do *not* take them). They do have flat rates to the Scarborough area, please ask them beforehand so that you and the driver have agreed on a price before the ride starts.
